Compact and lightweight
Contact Image Sensors (CIS) technology uses compact, lightweight components that have good tolerance to vibration. As a result, Ci 24 weighs just 36 lbs (16.3 kg) making it easily portable. And, it is sufficiently compact to use on your desk or table top without a floor stand.

SmartLF Ci 24's front paper exit removes the need for space at the back to accommodate rear-exiting media. Other scanners do not have this feature.  As a result, SmartLF Ci 24 and its bigger brother the Ci 40 are the only scanners that can be placed flush against a wall or on a shelf, maximising the use of available office space.

Ci 24's compact dimensions, light weight and front paper exit make it the ideal scanner for smaller workspaces.

Creates sharp, accurate scans
Ci 24's CIS imaging technology gives extremely sharp, finely resolved and geometrically accurate images that are especially suited to scanning your technical documents. It's high 600 dpi optical resolution is more than adequate for any technical large format scanning job.  (The optimal scanning resolution for most technical documents is 200 to 400 dpi.)

The unique Advanced Single Roller Paper Transport (ASRPT) system comprising a single, large diameter precision ground roller with a dynamic spring mounted media guide mechanism maintains accurate document positioning as the document passes through the scanner.

The single large, slowly revolving roller introduces less error than the multiple smaller rollers found in all other large format scanners that must complete many revolutions per scan. This makes Ci series scanners the most accurate large format scanners in the SmartLF range.

ASRPT is combined with a bright bi-directional LED illumination system so that even folded documents are sharply in focus and shadow free making sure you get high quality scans.

Images are scanned using 48-bits (colour) or 16-bits (monochrome), with the best 24 and 8-bits selected as image data respectively improving shadow and highlight detail for best scan quality.

Because it's a CIS large format scanner with LED illumination, the Ci 24 doesn't require warm-up time and there's no need for calibration before use.

Fast scanning speed
Whether you're scanning monochrome or colour, the Ci 24 flies. All models scan monochrome at 10 inches per second (200 dpi). If you need high volume colour scanning, choose the express colour e model which scans colour at 3.33 inches per second (200 dpi).

"Scan-it-once" philosophy
(Requires ScanWorks software, not included with scanner.)
With other wide format scanners you have to perform multiple pre-scans of selected image areas to get scan settings right. With the Ci 24 large format scanner and ScanWorks software you scan only once, then perform thresholding and image enhancements on the scan in real time.

Scan-it-once technology gives you a huge workflow advantage. You can perform quality assurance and adjustments in-line, "right-first-time", instead of needing to re-scan quality control failures off-line after batch scanning is completed.

An additional advantage of scan-it-once technology is that it minimizes document movement (and possible wear) through the scanner and document skew caused by back and forth "checking".

Intelligent Adaptive Thresholding (IAT)
IAT allows you to create better quality scans of dirty documents more quickly. The free SmartLF All in One software supplied with the Ci 24 has three IAT settings; ScanWorks software (not included with the scanner) has comprehensive IAT that you can set in real time using slider bars.

Fast Ethernet 1000 connectivity
Ci 24 large format scanner is networkable - it has an Ethernet 1000 connection as well as a USB2 connection. Ethernet 1000 transmits data between the scanner and the PC faster than USB2. It also allows you to place the scanner further from the host PC or network socket than USB2, which has a 2m maximum recommended cable length.

Preserves delicate originals
Ci 24's Advanced Single Roller Paper Transport (ASRPT) applies the minimum force necessary for preserving delicate originals, while achieving the required traction and accuracy to ensure images are sharp and shadow free.

You can even scan notoriously difficult newsprint without a carrier sheet - something that most large format scanners cannot achieve.

The supplied All in One SmartLF software is designed for operation by non-specialist users and is very simple to use while providing all the basic scan to file and scan to copy functionality you need.

Ci 24 is a CIS technology large format scanner which cost less to manufacture than CCD scanners as they use simpler optical pathways with fewer components. This cost saving is passed on to you when you purchase the scanner.

The scanner is supplied with SmartLF All in One scanning software which is easy to use and designed for the non-specialist. It includes all essential functions such as scan to file (PDF, TIFF and JPG formats) and scan to copy (any Windows printer).

Economic to run
As a CIS large format scanner using LED illumination the Ci 24 uses less power than fluorescent tube illuminated scanners. And, because LEDs do not require warm-up time the Ci 24 can be used immediately after power on and can be switched off when not in use.

The Ci 24 requires minimal service and calibration. The utility software included with it provides you with all the maintenance applications you need to keep your large format scanner in prime condition and up-to-date with the latest firmware and drivers.

Three upgradeable models
There are three upgradeable SmartLF Ci 24 large format scanner models: m (monochrome), c (colour) and e (express colour).

If your initial requirement is for a monochrome wide format scanner only, you can buy a monochrome scanner now and upgrade to colour if and when you need it. If your initial requirement is for infrequent colour scanning, you can buy a colour wide format scanner now and upgrade to a faster express colour model should your colour scanning volume increase.
